A Day in the Life on the River Cam

Our Site Manager, Upkar, captured a day in the life while delivering river restoration works on the River Cam last year for Affinity Water.

FiveRivers has successfully worked with Affinity Water to deliver a river restoration WINEP design and build contract on the River Cam in Essex. The project started in 2022 with our design team before works were completed onsite in mid-late 2025.

During the construction phase, we utilised the innovate spider excavator to complete works due to the high embankments. The works completed included: bed raising through riffle installation, woody debris through hinged and pinned site won trees, bank regrading, spoil and brushwood berms. We were able to clean up and the historic dredgings to reinstate the river bed to its natural condition.
