FiveRivers is certified under NHSS 18
At FiveRivers, our HSQE team continues to raise the bar.
We’re proud to announce that we are now NHSS 18 certified, further strengthening our growing portfolio of accreditations.
National Highways Sector Schemes (NHSS) are complementary to ISO 9001 and are designed to ensure the highest standards of quality, safety and competence for organisations operating across the UK’s strategic road network. With more than 20 individual schemes available, 𝐅𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐑𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐞𝐝 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐍𝐇𝐒𝐒 𝟏𝟖 – 𝐄𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐌𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐋𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐋𝐚𝐧𝐝-𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬.
This certification reinforces our capability to deliver high-quality environmental, and landscape works across major infrastructure projects — particularly as Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) becomes mandatory for Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs) from May 2026.
Some of our experience across key transport schemes includes:
• A47 – Supporting delivery of WFD requirements, including backwater creation, pond creation, and installation of leaky dams.
• M25 J10 – Currently delivering habitat improvement works and in-channel enhancements.
• M25 J28 – Completing electro-fishing rescue and species translocations ahead of dewatering works.
This achievement reflects the dedication of our HSQE team and our continued commitment to delivering infrastructure projects to the highest environmental and quality standards.
How we can work together on transport schemes:
• Consultancy – early contractor involvement for environmental and civil engineering works, river restoration design, BNG design and habitat creation design.
• Construction – enabling works including vegetation clearance, soft landscaping, habitat improvement and creation, biodiversity net gain and minor civil engineering.
• Monitoring – baseline surveys and assessments covering environmental impact, water quality monitoring, fish rescue, removal and translocation, Ecological Clerk of Works.
