River Restoration on the Sulham Brook

Earlier this year we shared details about our partnership with Thames Water regarding the implementation of their WINEP river restoration programme, which includes our two projects: Hogsmill and Sulham Brook.

We are pleased to announce that construction is now underway on the Sulham Brook project! Following the completion of the design phase, works are progressing on site. This project has been developed in close partnership with local landowners, the Environment Agency, and the Pang Valley Flood Forum to deliver sustainable improvements that meet both local priorities and national environmental standards.

The designs incorporate various river restoration methods, including bank regrading, in-channel berms, and the addition of gravel beds. These elements will aid in restoring natural processes within the watercourse, enhancing flow during dry spells, and creating improved habitats for chalk stream species.  Material generated from daylighting will be used to create in channel woody features such as deflectors to enhance flow diversity and areas of slack water allowing marginal and aquatic plant growth.

The close collaboration between our in-house designers and build team has ensured a smooth transition into construction, keeping the project on track and maintaining our high standards of quality and delivery.

We’re looking forward to seeing how this site matures over the coming months!
