FiveRivers Longford River Revetment Framework Award

FiveRivers is pleased to announce our recent framework award with The Royal Parks, on the Longford River until 2028.

Following a competitive tender, FiveRivers were awarded this framework as sole supplier. Under this framework, works will include the removal and replacement of timber revetments along the Longford River within the Bushy Park boundary, installation of coir rolls and installation of rock rolls with the aim to restore the revetments and minimise further bank erosion.

Over the years the historic timber revetments across the river have decayed away and failed leaving the banks to erode and in some areas of elevated river, over top more readily. The Longford River is an artificial canalised waterway that diverts water from the River Colne at Longford, circa 12 miles to Bushy Park, with a further 7 miles of system within Bushy Park. It was built for King Charles 1 in 1638/39 as a water supply for Hampton Court Palace facilitating both pressurised drinking water and fountain water.

This framework continues our relationship with The Royal Parks, following previous works at Bushy Park (https://five-rivers.com/case-study/habitat-restoration-bushy-park/) for design and build contracts for habitat restoration and improvements.
