Key remarks
- We undertook work for the Norfolk Internal Drainage Board to restore four reaches of the River Nar in and around Castle Acre
- The restoration project sought to reinstate natural form and flow function by utilising site won materials such as gravels and timber
- Site-won gravel was used to raise the bed-level of over-deepened parts of the river bed and restore a relic meander
- Restoration works were undertaken in order to restore flow velocity, enhance channel dynamics, and thus in- stream plant communities, invertebrate numbers and fish habitat
